A Fruitful Meeting

After finalising my project topic i didn't do anything meaningful for some days...Harinarayana Sir scolded me for my laziness..For citation first we had to collect S.R Ranganathan's articles i.e articles written by him..I searched like hell for a period of 3 days and i am really thankful to all my friends who spent their precious time assisting me..I was really disappointed as my guide had assured me that there were many articles on net...but the reality is that there are to a maximum 20 articles on net. Its realy heartening to find out that there is such a drought for the electronic format of the articles of "THE FARTHER OF LIBRARY SCIENCE "... its high time that initiatives have to be taken to create a dependable data base.. it s at this point of time that the cheif librarian Dr.krishnamurthy sir and my guide asked me to meet Dr K N Prasad the cheif executive officer of SARADA RANANATHAN ENDOWMENT FOR LIBRARY SCIENCE. i am realy thankful to the moment at which i had the luck of acquaintance with him.He informed me that there was indeed a shortage of articles present in electronic format, but he promised to help, and got back to me with the information that they are ready to create a data base for it and i will have to wait a bit longer... i express my gratitude for his timely response and his intiative. Though this means my project will be boxed for some time.. i hope to divert my atentions to other aspects.

Project Title

After a long days gap again i started project work.The title for my project is
CITATION ANALYSIS OF RANGANATHAN'S ARTICLE..
Next step for doing any project is to know whether anybody did that work earlier..For that i searched in Information Science Abstract.Nobody did that work..It is confirmed.My guide suggested me to go through some sites.. i searched in htttp://www.isibang.ac.in/librarian . From there i got information Ranganathan's portal..some books written by him and about him...

Monday(2-09-07) we went again to guide ,Harinarayana's chamber...He again and again told us that a project is not only self learning but it contains some research elements also..We didn't have any idea how to select a topic or title for the project..He told us reffer some library journal.He showed us Emerald cite...We have to take three journels and have to refer and put it in blog..

First project aims at creating database of Nobel Prize awardees in several subject. For this MS-Access has been used as a primary tool.

Second Project aims at services provided by the public library to improve the reading habits of children

First Attempt in Blog

Yesterday that is (21/08/2007) Tuesday we met again our guide. In the second attempt also except Arundhati others failed. He can't open our blogs and he didn't even get our mail. Ours mail went to spam because of bad subject line. Again we tried and send mail. He told us to be more careful in language. He published comments also. He suggested me to be more careful in giving specific details. Yesterday we taught more about blog.

Secod Meeting 20.08.2007

Today the secod meeting is over...We all saw the project....He asked about home work and what we learn from that ?That moment we understood that we worked like a washerman...We didn't do our work properly....He told us about project title.....He gave right to select the title of our interest....It will increase our selection capacity....We told him some previous project title...But we didn't notice what skill may develop for that people...He asked us to notice again some three project and write an abstract about them..We have to notice what skill they developed. Then he told us to put all the things we discussed about project in the blog. It will improve our writing skill and also online culture....

About Project

I am Anila, 3rd semester student. My guide for project is N. S. Harinarayana. In our batch including me there are 5 students. Last week we five met our guide first. Begining itself he makes us clear that not to be over confidence about the project . Then he gave surface idea about the project. A project means self learning and skill development.One should be proud to show or explain about one's own project... In order to convince his points. he told a story. From that we understood that how our work should be in project. It is applicable in life also. He told us to look some previous project and report him what we understand from that.... These all things increase my confidence and reduce my exitement.....Anyway i have to go a long way for a good output......
